Our story so far...

Ginge & Co...

We are a father and daughter business, based in New Mills in the beautiful High Peak, Derbyshire
Ginge & Co is named after me once very red haired Alan, (father) and Emily (daughter).

Emily spent the summer of 2017 on the farm just up the road, milking cows and loved it. Together they realised that the very tasty milk and cream that the ‘girls’ produced would make gorgeous ice cream.

We sold our first Ice Cream on the 1st December 2018 on an outdoor stall, at New Mills Christmas lights switch on. Not knowing if we would sell even one ice cream on a chilly night in December, we were astounded with the amount of interest and good wishes and the ice cream almost sold out!
Since then we have been busy trying new flavours and have created our very own Ice Cream creamery known as the 'Shed' in a stone shed in the garden. 

During the Covid-19 lockdown period of 2020, we had our busiest period so far, so many of our customers enjoyed our ice cream through the hot summer months.  We learnt a lot during that time but mainly it was all about team work.  Since then we have continued to work hard, bringing in new flavours and working on the wholesale side of the business.

We now supply Farm Shops, local cafes, village stores and work closely with talented chefs in a local gastro pub.

2022 has been a busy year, Emily now spends time working with her mum in her Podiatry clinic as Clinic Coordinator and she also drives a mini skip wagon, delivering and picking skips up around the local area, so you might see her and Freddie (her collie dog) driving around so give her a wave. She is a busy lady but she always has a smile on her face.

Alan has been busy with his ‘Meet The Maker’ stalls, you can find him throughout the year at some of our retail spots, giving out FREE samples and chatting to you about how he makes the ice cream, why he started the company and what flavours people love the best. 

This Christmas (2022) we returned to New Mills Lights Switch On, and boy was this a chilly night, but that did not deter you all from eating ice cream, again this was a fabulous night and it was great to see so many of you there.

Our aim is to sell gorgeous homemade small batch ice cream from locally sourced businesses and we are looking forward to sharing our ice cream with you as we think its as special as you.
